At a previous employer the sales/marketing team 'lugged' a model 150 around
the world (!!!) to demonstrate the business applications they had for sale.
The prospects liked to see applications running native, not over a comms
link.  The poor little 150 was bashed to bits many times by the airline
baggage handlers, even though it was reasonably protected in a custom made
case.

A portable AS/400 is what is needed.  The electronic guts of a 150/170 style
system could surely be repackaged, perhaps further miniaturised, and made
truly portable, e.g. carried as airline hand-baggage.  I bet the component
technology already exists, the casing and marketing ... well IBM ?

Nope.  Doubt it would work.  Part of AS/400 (and Mac for that point too)
robustness is the fact of a limited set of hardware to support.

If you have IBM developing OS/400 for Intel AND the millions of hardware
possible, it will tank.
