The part you quote, which is from IBM's ILE Concepts manual, sounded like
what Leif described as 'private address space'. So are we all on the same
track?

It doesn't surprise that there's more UNIX-style stuff on the 400 now. It
became apparent when I saw UID, GID, and home directory on the user
profile. And things like usr, etc, dev, and tmp in the IFS.

But, no matter how a thing got here, if we can use it, all the better?
