The original error message you reported was from QQRYMSG, rather than an
explicit SQL message. (Hmmm... was it QRY2293?) Seeing the same error here
helps narrow it down just a little.

The very next thing I'd try is a series of simple selects that include one
column at a time. Work your way across the columns until you hit the one
that fails. If it fails on column 1, you should still try column 2, then 3,
etc.
