Connecting an Okidata printer to a dumb terminal

Hi all,

  We are in the process of selecting a dot-matrix
printer  (the name Okidata keeps coming up)
to attach to a dumb terminal on an AS36.
This printer will be used to print single sheet, multi-part
bank contracts and RMV/DMV and other forms used by an
auto dealer.  I would be interested in hearing from those who
have blazed this trail and any tips they might have regarding:

printer selection/capability
emulation
control codes
problems
forms management
etc

In the past we used an IBM 5256 and are currently using
an IBM 4247 but belive there's got to be a better way.
