Well I think that the best emulation on earth is tn5250, a GPLed 5250
emulation package. I may be somewhat biased since I helped write some of
it but it still rocks the planet :) You get:

1. Runs on windows and just about every unix out there (linux and freebsd
especially well supported).
2. 5250 display emulation with a number of different access methods, i.e.
over telnet, in a Windows window, and X Windows. Great for when you are
at a remote location which has no emulation software loaded.
3. Printer emulation. Prints to whatever printer you already have
defined on your computer. Just start the printer emulator and send your
printed output to the out queue created.
4. Printed output can stored in several formats. In addition to
printing, tn5250 supports saving your printouts to disk in ASCII,
postscript, and PDF. Creating postscript or PDF files is as easy as
starting the printer and sending your spooled file to the out queue.
5. The source code to the entire package. Since it is GPLed you get to
modify it to your heart's content :)
