Tom, The AS400 is acting as a Logon server so if you have a user profile and for WinNT are using PLC you have access to the PC. As an AS400 administrator you are the lan administrator. I finally had to get supportline involved due to TCP bogging down in the afternoons and eventually dieting. Even an ENDTCP and STRTCP couldn't bring Netsvr back up. It turned out that a PC was sending bad requests to the AS400 on port 139 in high volume. After getting a couple of "Test" PTFs everything stays up and even though the warning message shows up the AS400 stays the master browser. Losing as master browser was just a symptom of TCP bogging down. It seems to be similar to NT server's event log that shows every time an election is held and that it wins it.
