Anne L and friends.
I find it truly amazing that we (the experts :-) can't figure something
like this out. Says a lot abut how far IBM's marketing still has to go.
It is just WAY too hard to navigate this jungle.

Leif:
With all due respect to the technical experts that contribute to the list,
the ability those of us have to properly design and configure an iSeries to
meet customer expectations is a different skill than knowing OS/400 and its
associated LPP's. That's why business partners spend so much money, time,
and energy to understand all of the options and details that go into even a
simple order of a 250. Making sure all of the appropriate cables, feature
codes and other odds and ends are ordered correctly is not the same as
going to CompUSA for a PC. One could argue that IBM should make it more
simple for the average iSeries consumer to buy this stuff, but then we
would hear howls of indignation from that same crowd about how come IBM did
not ship the correct hardware, cables, software, etc. with the order, or
why can't I order it that way. An iSeries is not your average car on the
showroom floor. The reason we have a multitude of feature/function
available to us is we have asked for them, and IBM responded.

If you really want to navigate the jungle, call your local IBM Business
Partner. It will wind up costing less in the long run, and you will have
much higher satisfaction with your purchase. If you don't have a Business
Partner, there are several folks on this list that work for, (me included)
or own one that would be happy to help you.

Now, letting the world know about this machine and it's abilities, well,
that's another discussion.
