It is defiantly worth a shot, but the network card has the problem. I have
tried to ping out and couldn't.

Have you tried just ending the Trivial FTP server (as opposed to ending all
of TCP/IP)?  It may be that you can just end and restart this server an
achieve your rest.  This would certainly be less disruptive to all the other
users.  It's worth a try.
