I think I hear whistling.... ;-)

So... you want to play "You Bet Your Business" on the possibility that
maybe, in the event of a disaster, that you are either dead and no longer
responsible for recovering ....  or that maybe, someone has just the right
combination of old, outdated, used equipment that can be delivered to your
new place of business for recovery purposes with an unsupported operating
system, in say, less than 3 days? And made to function? And you have all of
your tapes including a recent SAVSYS?

But seriously, the issue I have with this statement is the "I would think"
clause.

The real answer here is that you can't think maybe. If you are in this
position, you need to _KNOW_ that the equipment is or can be made available
in a moments notice. And that it _WILL_ be compatible. And you need to
_KNOW_ if that status changes.

It's called planning. And very few people take it seriously, especially in
situations where the hardware and software are aging. If they don't spend on
the current installation, they probably aren't spending to prepare for "what
if".
