this note is posted to both midrange-l & icitizens-l, because it answers a 
question started in mid-l and later migrated to icitizens.

Many of you have been wondering about the iNations promo versus the post from 
Andrew Borts about a $7k deal.

I received an answer from Jim Baker at IBM to my question about the 2 different 
offers.

Jim, I got the background on the  Personal Use System you asked about.  The
"Personal Use System" was a proposal  that we looked at that never became a
reality- it evolved into the Consultant's Lease offering we have been
discussing.  Charts describing the proposed "Personal Use System" were sent
out to a  handful of customers/BPs to get their input on the proposal.  So,
those charts you sent me were just one of the ideas along the way to the

I am continuing to analyze the current iSeries Services Network Consultant's 
Lease
as well as look at the PartnerWorld offering. I do think these are valuable 
programs
for our community. Ibm helps us with a good deal on a system, we help Ibm by
learning, developing and demonstrating new/existing products & services for the 
iSeries.
