Try Spooled File Tools (SPLTOOL) at
www.bvstools.com/spltool.html.

It's an AS/400 based solution that allows you to save *SCS
spooled files, or email them, using PDF, HTML, RTF, Text,
etc...

You can do it with Java, you'll need the AS/400 toolbox
APIs.  You may be able to do it with VB using the client
access dll.  Never tried it though.
