Something I just reported to IBM which may be of interest to folks who use a
SNMP manager or like to do a ping -a x.x.x.x from your DOS prompt.

The system will report back (assuming you have no host table entry on your
PC) the **DOMAIN** name listed in the AS/400 Netserver config through Ops
Nav. Was driving us nuts when we'd do a ping -a to one of our development
servers and kept getting back KINGLAND.COM and on another we'd get the
serial number. The remedy is to change the DOMAIN NAME in the Netserver
config to what you want the system to return on a query ping or what to
report to your SNMP manager.

I have informed IBM of this error (a server name is not the same as a domain
name - we have more than one server here, so KINGLAND.COM is a little
vague). Thought you'd all like to know. And if anyone from IBM is
listening, you can just mail the check, because I imagine we're not the only
one this is driving nuts. :) Have a great weekend.
