I dont know if this will help, but anyway.
I had ODBC SQL problems recently and what I did
to fix was to set the NULL INDICATOR on for
each and every field that had no data ( even for
zero value numeric  or blank alpha fields) or
made sure that the fields had some non-blank
or non zero data. HTH
