WAY cool - OK Some great things are afoot in V5R1M0
Positives;
1) SNTP - Synchronized TIME Network Protocol - Now every hour, your
system can synchronize with the Cesium clocks around the world...
2) SMTP setup - MUCH Easier - multiple domains are built into the
Operations Navigator wizard, there are some COOL things built into the
ON stuff - like blocking Mail Forwarding, and other neat tools.
Management of that stuff is generally cool.
3) LAN Console - if you have a 270 or 8xx box, and hate the cold of your
computer room - the console is accessible over your lan. BUT... the
passwords are expired when you upgrade to V5R1M0 so WATCH IT!!!
4) PTF's - REALLY Cool - they give you a status update @ the Bottom of
the screen - also - they KNOW about the multi-disk Cume package - so
it's MUCH friendly then previous releases...
5) Net Server changes - now net server can perform the network signon
stuff - as if it was an NT network... very cool - the wizard was
fabulous...

Pitfalls;
1) Route to the internet (*DFTROUTE) deleted somehow...
2) SMTP changes isn't intuitive for the people "simulating" the new
functions built into the Operations Navigator - such as multiple
domains, and the security features...

Honestly - it took a long time, but I have a 18cpw box - the languages
alone are worth the upgrade... TCP/IP looks like it's been enhanced in a
MAJOR way...

Websphere Developer Suite comes on a convenient DVD - installs in one
swell foop...

Media - for newer AS/400's are (I think) coming on DVD - which would cut
the time down immensely for upgrades/PTF's - I'd LOVE to be able to load
PTF's unattended @ Night, and IPL the system @ 4:00am - but hey that's
me...

More to come - I installed it over the Christmas Day off - so it took
from 8:00am to Midnight with the Cume load... (IPL was about 1 or 2 am
before it completed...)

Anyone know how to install the "Over the internet" PTF ordering/ECS
stuff? The CD wasn't exactly clear...
