Coming in late on this conversation (as usual)

My One (SLIC CMS/400), which I see you just downloaded, doesn't require a
tape drive.  When saving using *SAVF, a pre-built image of the restoration
programs is copied to the CD, so LODUN works and contains all the programs
required to restore the CD.  Ok, it's a little messy as it basically has to
do a two stage restore.  But it does just about hang together.

And remember it's free and open source, so you can mod it to your hearts
content (and improve it of course)
