Like Jerry said, ICF either way. BUT, if you can make your S/1 talk async,
you could try the Interactive Terminal Facility on the AS/400 side. It is an
IBM-supplied async terminal program, part of OS/400. I doubt it would have
the functionality you would need for "production". I think it has the
ability to capture data to a file, but I don't think it can be scripted or
run in batch, as the name implies. You could at least see if you could get
them talking. All you do is create an async line, controller, and device and
then use the STRITF command with the remote loc name from the device.

Also, I'm not sure that you could use your modem eliminator for async. You
might have to change to a null-modem cable.
