I only used the roadmap once, on a large system.  For smaller customers
I've done it many times "my way" as it was quicker !  ;-)

don't need to remember, still do it. But I can also tell you that the book
is a good checklist, and I have had more than one migration where I did
indeed, veer off the roadmap. The book is good, but it did not cover _all_
situations.
