In the V5R1 Info Center, open up the Planning topic on the left and there is
a whole section about LPAR planning. I found some good basic info in there.

Trying to configure some systems using the IBM Configurator for eBusiness
also gives some insight. I think this tool kind of goes long with the LPAR
Validation Tool that jt mentioned, with the LPAR tool being far more
detailed but not as friendly as the Conigurator.

I have a client that is wanting to look at LPAR. (Replace two AS/400's with
a single, larger system.) We are just starting to examine this. Neither I,
nor anyone else here, has set up a LPAR system before. I have found the
"Slicing the AS/400 with Logical Partitioning: A How to Guide" and "Capacity
Planning for Logical Partitioning on the IBM iSeries Server" redbooks.
Does anyone have any other suggestions for sources on preparing for using
LPAR's?

TIA,

Chuck Morehead
