Patrick,

Sterling Commerce did conduct a reorganization last week which included some
valuable members of the AS/400 development team. However, it was not the
entire team and it did not reduce the L1 and L2 support staff. There are no
plans to drop the GENTRAN:Server for AS/400 product. In fact, no current
AS/400 development projects were eliminated.

Your supposition about AS/400 users being migrated to the UNIX product is
not correct. There are many forces in play at any large company, and while
there are some decision makers who wish that could happen, there are others
who acknowledge that it will not.

I heard today from a consultant that Sterling laid off their AS/400 EDI
staff and are leaving the AS/400 platform. Apparently they want AS/400 uses
to migrate to their UNIX product. Can anyone confirm this?

TIA,
Patrick
