Be sure that you are current on ptf's (especially latest cum's and BRMS
group ptf's) and also on the LTO drive microcode. In March we installed our
first 3581 and from day one the backups (60GB) has completed in just under
40 minutes ( 820 2427 V4R5 ).  But a DSPTAP took almost 4 hours until we
were current on the ptf's and drive microcode version. All problems was
pertaining to restoring IFS objects. Nowadays any restore of a single IFS
object will take less than 15 minutes.
