Steve,

If you are doing "software development" for customers,
you should be able to talk to IBM about getting the
270 as a "development" box.    There are significant
discounts for AS/400s used for software development.
You will have to provide some sort of "proof" that it
will be for this purpose, but it would be worthwhile.

Ask about it, and you should be able to get the
details.
