Maybe it contains some code they don't want out there - like broken
activation code checking or something.    ;-)

I also received the same from IBM, but I had already loaded V5R1 from the
original CD's with no problem.  I'm replacing the original CD anyway, but
I
wonder why they want the bad CD's back, why not just ask us to destroy it?

Dear IBM Customer,

There is a potential problem with the V5R1 software CD media which was
shipped to you.  In a very small percentage of cases you could have
problems during installation.  Therefore we have enclosed a copy of
updated
media which does not have this problem.

If you have already installed your system, there should not be an issue;
however, you should not attempt to use the old media again.  If for any
reason you need to reinstall, please use this new media which we have
enclosed.  The only affected CD is entitled Licensed Internal Code - RSA
or
the CD numbered as I_BASE_01.  The updated CD which is enclosed is titled
Licensed Internal Code - RSB, numbered as I_BASE_01.

To ensure the potentially bad media is not inadvertently left in
circulation we are asking you to please return your old media in the
enclosed envelope.
