  • Subject: V5R1: Service director table update required
  • From: rob@xxxxxxxxx

I think a hiper ptf is needed to resolve the following issue.

We had two AS/400's running V5R1 with disk issues. Luckily they were in a
raid set.

** I don't think the disk issues and V5R1 were related but the handling of
the issue was. **

We have service director installed. However the service director table has
had the entries cleared. Translation. It will only call IBM if certain
errors occurred. They have a table of errors to notify IBM on. Evidently
the SRC code that says that a disk drive is fried and needs immediate
replacement no longer counts. It is recommended that the following be
added to the table:
6717 FFF4
660* FFF2
2748 9030
2778 9030

Our CE is in our computer room updating our service director tables. His
older brother, (another CE), was here last week replacing disk drives. The
CE is on the phone checking for more recommendations.

Feel free to forward on to your CE's.

Rob Berendt
