Three ways:

1. Full panel help, rather than a single field.  Pop up a second panel that
has help for the entire screen.  With HTML you have that luxury.

2. Field sensitive help using the onFocus method.  This allows you to keep
track of the current field.

3. For a fixed-font screen, you can calculate the row and column of the
cursor when a key is pressed.  This requires the use of the DOM event model.

It depends on what paradigm you want to use.
