Mike,

There was an old command called RTVSPLFID in the old
TAATOOL's package. It used the QUSRSPLA API. Here's
what the command looks like:

Retrieve Spooled File ID - TAA (RTVSPLFID)

 Type choices, press Enter.

 Spooled file . . . . . . . . . . Name

 Job name . . . . . . . . . . . . * Name, *

   User name . . . . . . . . . . Name

   Number . . . . . . . . . . . . Character value

 Spooled file number . . . . . . *ONLY Character value, *ONLY,
*LAST
 Return user (10) Character value

Return job number (6) Character value

Return spooled file nbr (4) Character value

Return internal job ID (16) Character value

Return internal file ID (16) Character value

Subject: Retieve the spool number in a CL program

How do I retrieve the Spool number in a CL? I discovered a bug within my
routine for creating PDF files and need to know how to get this information
and I don't mean the job number.

Spooled file . . . . . . . . . . >
Job name . . . . . . . . . . . . >
  User . . . . . . . . . . . . . >
  Number . . . . . . . . . . . . >
Spooled file number . . . . . . > This number!
