RE: IBM CEO to step down next March - report

Nice catch...!  My wife just started getting the WSJ, and she didn't see
anything in it about this announcement.

In typical Mr. Gerstner style, this was about the most low-key announcement
imaginable of some truly earth-shaking news.  I've heard, and also read,
that these "power struggles" in corporate succession are pretty big deals.
One of the main advantages to being CEO is considered to be having the input
to pick a successor.  Last July/August Mr. Gerstner put Mr. Palmisano and
Mr. Thompson in a race to the top.  (Good news is...  both have been in the
400 Division.)  The winner of this long process, which was hinted to about a
month ago, has now been announced.

I still haven't read the article, but hope to.

Your question is such a good one.  Very astute.

I would have no clue as to the answer to your question (another reason it's
a good one) but I would imagine that the response of the iCitizens will have
an awful lot to do with answering it.  Perhaps the next few days will
tell...  But that's just a hunch...

I was surprised that Gerstner's decision did not make it into the "Malcolm
Haines resigns from IBM (Elvis)" thread. Perhaps the announcement is too
recent.
So how does Sam Palmisano affect the iNation?
