I made a mistake in this last post, as I have no business suggesting this to
Don.  If I did that, I'd be implying there is some proper amount for an
individual to contribute.  I'm not trying to set a standard that ANYBODY
should contribute ANY amount, let alone $1000.  That _is_ a lot of money to
me, but I paid my house off a few years back, so it's only in proportion to
my good luck, of late.  Ten bucks is as good as $1000, in my book.  Because
20,000 people could conceivably kick in $10.  Some volunteer time, and $0 is
*a lot better* than $1000.

There's my weird sense of math, again, Don...

So where I'm pointing out a need for the iSeries Community to start putting
together a warchest.  I take back my comment to Don, and I'll see if the
Boss will let me go the whole $1000 irregardless.  (Not tonight, though)
She's no pushover, but has a lot of compassion, and puts up with my work on
these "charitable projects".  (Whoops, just broke the rule about talking
about my wife, so you better take me up quick on that offer...;-)

BTW, all this is a lot of hot air, if you can get the site up and running,
David...  Offer's still available to ***you and this Midrange Community***
(by whatever name, but as opposed to iSN, Inc.).  Give me an address, and
I'll check into the amount.

I'm ready to do some ACTIVE LURKING.  But I can't tell if the new list is
functional.

And when I went to pass the new list info on to somebody, I got a bit of a
shock.

I my enthusiasm, I never read to the bottom of the post.  Were you serious
about it taking 2 months or so...?  If so, we need to start taking up a
collection to get you a new listserv.  If Don wants to kick in the $500 I
promised him for the iSN, Inc. site, I'll add another $500.  The second $500
is for the purpose of someone starting a 501(c).  That was my original offer
to the AAG, and I think that money would be far, far, far better put to this
purpose here.

You may, or may not, know that one of the *many* reasons I left the AAG was
because Rob Dixon refused to allow the topic of how your listserv is run on
Unix.  I wanted to talk about doing the AAG on a 400 (how else could we
complain about IBM running their business on Eunuchs...?)  But speed is of
the essence...  Whatever it takes to get a listserv up and running is OK
with me and I'm sure others, under the circumstances.

If you were kidding, the offer is still outstanding...  I kid around a lot,
but this is strictly legit.  And if you're kidding, I'm ready to do some
ACTIVE LURKING...!

Falling under the "Because I can" category, I've created a new mailing list
called 'ISN-Citizens"!  This new lists mandate will be for Citizens (and
prospective citizens) of the iSeries Nation to discuss the current state of
affairs.

This includes, but is not limited to, management, promotion, officers,
flags, national defense, and intelligence (or lack of).

Borrowing a page from our sister country, the USA, free speech will be a
inalienable right (at least in this mailing list).  People are free to
pontificate as they wish, as long as the topic doesn't stray too much.

To subscribe to the list, send email to ISN-Citizens-request@midrange.com,
and put the word "SUBSCRIBE" in the subject.  To unsubscribe, do the same
... except put UNSUBSCRIBE on the subject line.

As with most new lists created at MIDRANGE.COM, this is using the new
Mailman software.  Some of the welcome messages may reference a web site
... this web site is *NOT* available yet.  I am hoping to have it available
within 2 months or so.
