Neil,

Since RUNRMTCMD *IP is REXEC (I think), if there was not a REXEC daemon
running on the client it would refuse the connection. Have you tried
starting REXECD on the store controller? i.e. go in a DOS or OS/2 window and
type REXECD or START REXECD, or prhaps there is some PM facility to start it
up.

Have a customer who had 4690 POS Store Controllers connected to their 400
via SDLC and IBM's 5769-CF1 Point Of Sale Utility.
Custome rnow has a WAN in place so we replaced the SDLC communications
with TCP/IP.
We replaced the send and receive file retail file commands (SNDRTLF &
DLTRTLF/CRTRTLF/RCVRTLF) that were part of 5769-CF1 with SNDTCPF & RCVTCPF
(command interface to FTP from an August 1995 News/400 article by Julian
Monypenny).
What were having problems with is replacing the SBMRTLPGM command, used to
kick off a price update on the POS system, with the RUNRMTCMD command.

When we try something like:
RUNRMTCMD CMD('CALL TEST')
          RMTLOCNAME(REMOTELOC *IP)
          RMTUSER('userid')
          RMTPWD('password')

We get CPE3425 A remote host refused an attempted connect operation.

I don't know much about 4690's but I thought they ran OS/2. Turns out
it's a variation of OS/2 called Flex OS.
Does anyone know how to get the system to accept remote commands from the
400 ?

...Neil
