I have done this, but when I try to do a snddst:

I get this error:

distribution.
Cause . . . . . :   A document interchange request specified recipients and a
error was found with every recipient specified. A possible error is the
recipient is not defined in the system distribution directory.
Recovery . . . :   Check the recipients specified on the document interchang
request and submit the request again.
Technical description . . . . . . . . :   Other possible errors are: 1) Error
on data base request when accessing the system distribution directory; 2)
Damage on an internal object required by the document interchange function;
3) Resource required by the document interchange function was not available
at the time of the request.

Here's a couple of things you need to do. On your AS/400, you need to start SMTP and MSF (STRTCPSVR *STMP and STRMSF). You also need to configure SMTP to recognize your e-mail server - use the CHGSMTPA command and enter your mail server in the MAILROUTER parameter. Also, if you have a firewall, be sure to indicate that in the FIREWALL parameter. If you will be sending large attachments, use the CHGPOPA command and change the MSGSPLIT parameter to it's max (2048 or *NOMAX depending upon which OS release you're on).

What program/utility are you using to do the actual sending of e-mail from your /400?

I've made a couple of attempts to set up SMTP mail on our AS400 with no
success.
My objective is to use our Exchange server as the actuall mail server, and
set up
the AS400 to just pass messages there, for example from a CL program. Does
anyone
have guidelines on how to pull this off?
