True.  Unfortunately the only natural commit boundary is at the single
record level.  I'm thinking of making a case for removing commitment control
from the process.  This is not a popular option because it's not the
"standard" for our applications group.  Also the process takes almost a full
day to run, and would take a full day to recover.  I'm toying with the idea
of tuning the number of writes in the commit cycle too.
