We have the same type of UPS, Best Ferrups. Ours are much older. They will
routinely run self tests and battery test. When the switch to batteries
during the test, they signal the AS400. They are also sensitive to
frequency changes. There is a setting to make them less sensitive. Also
they have a log you can read. Hook a PC up to the comm. port and you can
logon. I would have to defer to your user manual since ours are over 10
years old.

Subject: RE: System utility power failed

We were in the building. This occurred 3 times between 7:00am and 2:00pm.
We didn't experience any surges or flickers of lights, etc in the office
area and the head of maintenance had nobody working on the power. We asked
if there may be some new machine in the factory that may be drawing power
and he said that we were on our own line. The UPS is a Best Power Ferrups
Series that is about 6 years old. We are going to contact Best to see what
they say and go from there. I'll also check to see if anyone is using a
vacuum in the computer room! Thanks to all who responded. I'll let you know
how we make out.
