Lots of folks running LPAR Dan.

You can certainly have redundant communications routes into your facilities too (we had that here in town (Indianapolis) at the last place I worked...). Use ISDN backup or something. Have some hot spares for key comm equipment, etc. At the last place I worked we were running sites ALL over the US and Canada off of one box and we were a manufacturer with warehousing and R&D, etc.

Of COURSE you can trust me Dan buddy and you folks are RIGHT down the street here ! BUMMER that we can't hook up ! Let me know if you do get some extra time !

And Neil make a good point about the hole in the vault for the SCSI cable...

Actually, I have thought about having an LPAR box here with one partition for each branch in lieu of having an AS/400 box at each branch.  Our comms guy gets a little twitchy when he hears that though.  One point of failure, plus if comms go down, everything stops at the branches.

We're as "regionalized" as we're gonna be.

Hey, Chuck, how about you?  Just stop in at our Indy branch every morning on your way to work.  Are you a trusty kind of guy?  <g>  (I'm gonna be in your part of town Wednesday thru Friday this week, a big company annual pow-wow at the Adam's Mark near the airport, but all of our waking hours appear to be accounted for.  Maybe next time, buddy! <g>)
