Dave,

This is a little bit of a rehash from other responses, but here is what I
use:

1)  Create an ODBC datasource pointing to the library your files are in.
2)  In Access go to File, Get External Data, Import
3)  Change the "Files of Type" drop-down box to be "ODBC" and then choose
the datasource you created in step 1.
4)  Choose the file you want and the file description and data are pulled
into your Access database.

Be careful about Import v.s. Link - Linking to the table can give you direct
access to your AS/400 file from Access.  I.e. Linking pulls the file
description into Access and utilizes your AS/400 data; whereas importing
pulls both the file description and data, basically giving you a snapshot of
the file.
