Hi Daniel,

        Thanks for your answer.  I had the feeling that the HPT was doing 
something
the hard way - probably cobbling together several 10-year-old modules to do
something they were not designed for.  Seeing that job run for as long as a
100,000 record update program and suck all the processor it can get didn't
seem to balance against the work being accomplished.  I admit I may be wrong
as I haven't investigated this pdf thing very far yet.  I think I saw
someone give a link to the specs the other day so I will take a look.

        I have V4R5 in a box which I am maneuvering toward installing.  It 
sounds
as if it might be worth it.  Thanks again for the info Daniel.
