  • Subject: CPYTOIMPF error CPDA09B - CCSID conversion could not be performed.

Hi Everyone,

I've been testing a simple CL program that copies a physical file to the IFS
using CPYTOIMPF. On the first several tests, it worked fine. On the next
test, without changing the program, just a different data set, it failed
with CPDA09B. The second level text says:

Cause . . . . . : The coded character set identifier (CCSID) conversion
could not be performed because the input data is not valid or can not be
identified by the specified code set.
Recovery . . . : Do one or all of the following:
-- Change the codepage or CCSID value.
-- Change the input data in the file to be valid. Submit the command
  again.

Since I'm not using the TOFILE parameter (meaning the TOCCSID parm is
irrelevant), I'm assuming that something in the data is invalid, but I'm not
sure what to look for. All the data appears to be straightforward numeric,
alpha, and date fields, with no invalid data.

The command is:

CPYTOIMPF FROMFILE(QTEMP/WORKFILE) TOSTMF('/QNTC/NTserver/Users/Company
Reporting/897222.CSV') RCDDLM(*CRLF)

What should I be looking for?

tia,
