Thanks to everyone for their responses regarding our pager issue.
We do not want to use third party software as our needs are very
basic and most software products offer far more than we really need,
of course at a price. So why pay for bells and whistles that we will
not use? I also don't want to add another software package that is
going to have to be maintained. We have a very small DP staff
(3 analysts/programmers and 2 PC/telephony people). Maintaining
what we have already and still managing to get any new development
done is a real trick. I run from the notion of adding more to maintain.

We also aren't on the internet so can't use any of the popular
internet solutions, nor do we email from our AS400.

And there is no way that our management will pay for cell phones
for us to carry. Unfortunately our installation does view the DP
department as a liability and not an asset. This may stink but it is
reality. I own my own PC at home that I use to dial into the AS400
when we have problems. The cost of that is mine, but they did
spring for the Pro Com software that we use.

Arlene, do you remember anything more about this, like what the
tool was? I might be interested in checking this out.

Thanks again group.
