Ron,

I agree.  The *MAP *DROP would be a much better solution than level
check *NO (always dangerous).  But your long term solution is still the
API's.

I think using the *MAP *DROP options of the copy file (like Peter
suggests)
should take care of this problem. Ultimately, I will replace the whole
thing
with the API processing but in the near term, I think just changing to
a
copy file should do the trick.
