I was arguing that yes you could rename, but maybe I am not understanding
your issues. When you do the put, the resultant file changes? Your not
doing the following, are you:
put randomname.txt setname.txt
Because if you are then do:
put randomname.txt
quote rcmd rename randomname.txt setname.txt

Although I probably have the syntax wrong for the rename - I am no Unix
expert.

If, however, the host is grabbing any existing file in that directory, you
are in a hurt. You'll need to cooperate. When our customers ftp us
something they then send a command to post the data. Works great.

I couldn't use any authority commands as i'm uploading
to a unix based server from our AS/400 system & and
the renaming files couldn't be done as they were
program generated multiple files with random file
names! Please advice !

Thanks in advance,
Ravi
