As I have said many times before, the reason why you buy an AS/400 is to
buy one integrated solution from one source, and when it breaks, you make
one phone call.

When I had an issue early in the five of the model 270, and by backplane
board blew out, and IBM had no parts in the parts system in the United
States, I got them to get one from the manufacturing floor.

I know of a company in Northeastern Indiana that is having a real tough go
around because of third party drives.  They are also having another tough
issue dealing with third party maintenance (and lack of parts).  Having
some serious downtime issues.  I also know their manager participates in
this list.  I'd like to hear his take on this issue, if he feels like
sharing, (and has the time).
