create some cl to do the various saves endsbs etc using input parameteres and
make the job wait on a MSGQ You then run this job on your Console (running in
your controling subsystem) then have another job can be set up in WRKJOBSCDE to
send parameters to the message queue. Your job running on the console then
processes those params and runs the relevant bit of code such as ENDSBS SAVSYS
etc. It then looks as if you are submitting the commands at the console.
make sure the first thing you don inthe Console Cl is to clear the message queue
just in case you have old params sitting there. If you need more details e-mail
me.

Subject: ENDSBS

I am trying to create a batch job that performs a SAVSYS, and prior to the
SAVSYS command I am issuing an ENDSBS *ALL command. I am having difficulty
getting either command to work.

Messages I receive:

ENDSBS *ALL not allowed in current environment.
Command SAVSYS not allowed in this setting.

I realize both messages are because I am trying to run them in batch because if
I run them interactively, they work.

How do others perform unattended system backups?
