The best thing to do in this situation (I've found) is to have the web
server running and the websphere sbs running. Then run the un-install
program. Then re-run the install program. If the web server is up and the
WebSphere sbs is up, it should be no problem. I had it work smooooooth the
first time. Then on another machine, forgot to create and start the HTTP
server and WebSphere, and it didn't work. Un-installed, started what wasn't
running, and re-ran the install. Sweet stuff. Didn't see a 5250 emulator
in there tho. Thought that was Host On-Demand.

It would be worth going into the WebSphere Admin client (if you've
installed it anywhere) & starting the Web application server called
something starting IWAWEBACCE that sounds like it's been created as part of
this gizmo's installation process. Or restart QEJBSBS (much quicker &
presumably OK if you've installed WAS specifically for this purpose).

Subject: Trouble loading up iSeries Web Access Alpha

I am attempting to load up iSeries Web Access Alpha - a new gizmo that
allegedly will allow 5250 emulation inside a web page, file access, etc
using Websphere. To do this requires v4r5 and a bunch of other stuff.

I loaded up Websphere 3.5 Standard. Didn't work. Found out I needed a
boat
load of PTFs, including group PTFs. Got them. Loaded OK. Websphere
appears to start up OK now.

Loaded iSeries Web Access. All _appears_ to load OK, but I can't get at
the
page to confirm that the install went OK.

I installed it to a new instance of http server, on port 5098 (as in the
docs). I am supposed to go to:

http://as400:5098/webaccess/iWAHome and get a web page. At that point, I
am
also supposed to see job IWAWEBACCE running under subsystem QEJBSBS. The
subsystem is running, but that job does not appear, nor does the desired
web
page.

The docs tell how to confirm that the install went OK, but gives no info re
troubleshooting... hmmm.

Any ideas? This might be a great gadget, if I could only get it to work!
:)
