This is a note of profound thanks to all of you who offered suggestions
regarding my issues with IBM having the wrong serial numbers for two of our
AS/400s, which prevented me from using ECS to download or order PTFs
electronically. Special thanks go to Larry Bolhuis who had at least one good
contact in Rochester (man, don't leave home without one!) and to Leif
Svaalgard who dug deep into the system internals to determine the
"manageability" of the system serial number which, BTW, is the subject of the
newest chapter in his e-book.

Hats off, too, to Joe Griffin of IBM Rochester who worked for almost one week
to resolve this issue. It was good to work with someone who was probably as
anxious as, if not more so than, I was in getting this mystery solved. In the
end, it took several "bit flips" across the land (Boulder, Rochester, and our
two AS/400 local IBM branches - Indy & Reno) to make our boxes acceptable to
the IBM ECS gods.

Now on to the business of getting these boxes up to snuff. More questions
will follow this post, under a different subject.......
