V4R4, and I think my cum is from June. I'll check tonight I tried checking
the IBM website to see if there was anything, but the AS/400 service websites
were not responding last night.

You did Neil, and I found it. When I run the trace on an inside ping, it
works great, I see a single record for the ping:

COMMUNICATIONS TRACE Title: PINGing inside 02/27/01
Record Data Record Controller Destination Source
Number S/R Length Timer Name MAC Address MAC
Address
------ --- ------ --------------- ---------- ------------
------------
     9 S 33 22:47:19.74600 FFFFFFFFFFFF
0004AC3EB4FD
Frame Type : ARP Src Addr: 10.1.1.60
D
                     ARP Header :
00060800060400010004AC3EB4FD0A01013C000000
        Data . . . . . : AB7A000096999481 A389

(Data truncated due to 5250 display, but you get the idea).

When I do the exact same trace for pinging an address outside the subnet,
I
get no packets whatsoever - I get a CPF39B9, no trace records found.

This machine just doesn't want to talk outside its net for any reason. I
looked at system values, and nothing looks bad. To add insult to injury,
all of IBM's AS/400 service sites are down, so I can't even access the
forums.
