We use Strategi from http://www.businesslink.com/

It handles the encryption, adds an extra user/passphrase authentication
before providing a signon screen, handles file transfers to specific
users, printer output to the users (as html, haven't tried remote
printing).

It does its job well.  I haven't seen any load on the 400 from users on
Strategi.

It runs as a Java applet in a browser, so there is no software to
download and install.  It doesn't seem to work well on Linux or on
Netscape 6.0 on Windows (but then NS 6.0 isn't so great...)
