  • Subject: Need technique for getting network UID

I am looking for a technique to get the network (Novell) UID of the a
signing onto an AS/400. My shop uses DHCP to assign IP addreses, so
knowing the IP address alone does me little good. I have written some
sockets code that I know I could use, but this would require that I
install the "client" piece on all PCs and start it as a service under
the covers (yes, this is for a security check).

I was hoping that there might be another means to do this that might be
a little less involved.
