On the TV show dot com itself, which is a regular show with different
products featured each time, they gave www.tv1.net as the place to go to view
the TV show via the internet.
Some elements of the show were like computer literacy ... here is stuff we
need to know about the internet today. The TV show was successful in
presenting such an education when they kept it to kindergarten topics like
how Dow Chemical has come up with a new way of helping the building blocks of
hardware perform even faster, but as soon as they started to get into complex
interactions, the format began to break down/
It seemed to me that the show was not pure infomercial.
An infomercial has polished presenters selling an audience on wanting that
product right now. IBM was not polished. It was like a kludge of people
being quoted in which the different statements did not flow smoothly
together, like a B-version of real news.
