Leif

I'd have to agree with Ken(see below).

I'm running PRMS( ya pansophic ), We've been running it since 1990. Is
old? Yes, Is it fancy? No. However from a cost/return perspective
from the company it has been great. It handles OE, AP,AR,GL, Purch,
Production, Inventory. Billing. day in day out. Over the years we
have grown many company specific enhancements (that would not be in ANY new
ERP package and would have to be built again).

However I do agree with you in that "If we were to look today for a new
package" Would we look at it? I don't think so.

When you say "Name a Great Car" No one ever mentions the 6 year old car
they have that has given them 100k+ mileage with no major breakdowns(hence
very cost effective over 6 years). They immediately think only of New
cars. I understand that.

Name a great application period. To my knowledge MS hasn't enhanced
Solitaire in 5 or 10 years regardless of the fact that it is probably the
most widely used program on MS systems.

Is it great because it's popular? To be considered great, does the
application have to be on a top ten list somewhere in some top ten
magazine?

I define a great application as one that runs efficiently long after the
invoice is paid, say ten years or more. In my eyes, all the AS/400
applications with this kind of history are not just great but... GREAT
