STRTCP runs STRHOSTSVR since V4R2.
Recommended way to STRTCP is to add an autostrart job entry to the QSYSWRK
subsystem, instead of in startup program.
ADDAJE SBSD(QSYSWRK) JOB(STRUPTCPIP) JOBD(QSYS/QTOCSTRTCP)

FYI - check file QATOCSTART in QUSRSYS to see which TCP/IP, Host Servers &
Network File server jobs start automatically, You can update this with
UPDDTA if you want instead of going into Ops Nav to change startup value
for servers line Management Central etc. Make sure the *YES or *NO are in
uppercase.

We used to run STRHOSTSVR after STRTCP. Now we just run STRTCP. We
changed when we upgraded to V4R4 from V4R2. Does anyone know how the
host servers start automatically now? I'm not sure if they always
start, start with TCP, etc. I do know that we have some prestart jobs
and autostart jobs in QUSRWRK, but I don't think we added them.

I ask because we have a second 720 at V4R4 (in another city) that is
still running STRTCP and STRHOSTSVR in scheduled jobs. I want to add
STRTCP to their startup program to match ours. I do not want to cause
any problems since I'm too far away to just go in a fix them!

I think it is the prestart jobs in QUSRWRK that are the host server
jobs. QUSRWRK is not started on the other 720, just on ours. There are
no prestart jobs in the QUSRWRK sbsd on the other box.

Any thoughts?
