Subject: Oops Restore

That time of year again.

Everyone in the company knew we were running Fiscal Month End Year End etc.
last week, but some people waited until this week to try to run some reports
based on Year-to-Date totals that got wiped out when the Fiscal Wrap-Up
occurred.

This pattern of behavior works for some reports when it is Fiscal Month End
but NOT Year End.
Can I RESTORE to Some OTHER LIBRARY
<<snippet>>

Question for you...
Sounds like you have been through this many times, like the rest of us..

So how is your DASD space doing?

Since you are considering restoring to another library (which we do often)
have you thought about a "permanent" library with the critical files from
last year left in there?

This would require some set-up and hopefully NO hardcoded ovrdbf commands in
your C/L's
but then your users could sign on as "some-one" else for last year with the
"correct"
library list to run reports against.

I would love to do all that here; but the people who set up this AS/400 saw
fit to
place hardcoded ovrdbf in all the C/L's, and basically set up a very
expensive S/36...
We are cleaning up, but you know how it goes - no ROI that is "tangible" so
here we sit.

Just a thought.... Good luck
