        I would bet you are only paying for what's called a fractional T1,
or a Frame Relay connection either of which could be giving you a committed
Information Rate (CIR) of less than the total 1.544 T1 rate.  Although any
circuit that crosses State lines is going to be priced on a different scale
than one that goes across town...

        Check with MCI, PSI NET, UUNET, Exodus, and some of the other major
ISP's to see what combined deals they are running as these are usally better
than buying the parts and rolling your own.  Also, if you use Frame, you can
get and pay for a CIR based on your average needs with a peak load
availability (Burst Mode) ....
